College Announcement
The University of Dubuque is establishing the John and Alice Butler College of Osteopathic Medicine, a four-year D.O. program set to open in summer 2028. Supported by a transformational $60 million gift from John and Alice Butler, the new college will address physician shortages in Iowa and beyond while complementing UD’s strong healthcare programs, including nursing and physician assistant studies. The program will follow a whole-person approach, training students to prevent illness and promote wellness across the full spectrum of care. UD is pursuing accreditation through the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation and is actively planning clinical sites, community partnerships, and leadership for the college to prepare future osteopathic physicians to serve diverse communities.
